ABOUT ME

In 1985, at the age of 18, Australian-born photographer, Jane Mcleish-Kelsey, arrived in London and decided to make the city her home. He career started with assisting the award winning still-life photographer, Peter Myers, however she soon befriended a young fashion designer in a studio above by the name of John Galliano and test shoots for him followed. Jane’s early fashion work appeared in the new ‘street-style’ magazines of the 90’s such as Dazed and Confused and i-D as well as the Guardian newspaper. 

 

Her trademark style became one of capturing natural un-posed models in a filmic landscape using daylight. 

 

In 2017 Jane won the prestigious award from the Royal Photographic society for Editorial, Advertising and Fashion Photography. A career highlight.

 

Jane’s career spans over 30 years and during that time her work has been seen in numerous publications including British & Australian Vogue, Vanity Fair, US & Australian Elle, British & German Marie-Claire, In-Style, Glamour and The Sunday Times Style Magazine. She also has worked with many highly regarded independent fashion publications such as Violet Book, Exit, Lula and Russh. 

 

Her work has been included in numerous exhibitions - most notable of which was the Visionaries Exhibition at the V&A, where her Comme Des Garcons shoot was used as the flagship image for the show. Book publications include Desire, Visionaries, Fashion Faces Up (a publication which showcased examples from the foremost fashion photographers in the world today), and fashion designer Peter Jensen’s book ‘Muses’. 

 

A particular strength of Jane’s work is portraiture and well known personalities she has worked with include Jane Birkin, Samantha Cameron, Sophie Okenado, Nicholas Hoult, Sam Taylor-Johnson, Gabriella Wilde, Vanessa Kirby, Pixie Lott, Ellie Goulding, Billie Piper, Andrea Riseborough, Margarita Missoni, Rosie Huntingdon Whitely, Roisin Murphy and a particular honour was to photograph Germaine Greer for an Australian Post stamp in a series celebrating Australian legends.

 

Jane’s successful commercial career includes campaigns for International fashion brands including Marks and Spencer, Jigsaw, Monsoon, Laura Ashley, Miss Selfridge, New Look, Jenny Packham, Gossard, Caramel, Goldsmith’s Jewellers, Comptoir des Cotonniers, Les Petites, Mother of Pearl, Country Road, Monoprix, Damaris and Mimi Holiday.
